‘visions’ by SILVI: will have you in a sexy chokehold

by aura

Scottish singer-songwriter SILVI brought her A-game with the first single from her debut EP, to be released this year. The song showcases her incredible vocal talent in a way you’ve never heard her before.

The song starts out with a quiet invitation to enter a dreamy realm, with incredible low range tones on vocals. It evolves into an exquisite display of bass lines, beat drops and electronic elements that are very much reminiscent of 90s EDM. Then, when you think you may have things figured out the song mutates into an unexpected array of R&B infused tones, incredibly well-layered.

Then there’s the most incredible part of this track, SILVI’s vocals. There’s something gothic, dark, and sexy in her delivery. Like an invitation to step into a fantasy of some kind, it conveys a hazardous path that you’re incredibly compelled to follow. The singer goes from incredible low notes to higher vocalizations in the same musical phrase like it’s nothing, without ever losing the chokehold she’s got you in. Feels like a promising spellbound soundscape.

SILVI said the song is about “[…] the idea of picturing yourself living lives you’ll never lead… fantasizing about other realities can often move into what some may call manifestation and if that’s the case… be careful what you wish for.” The track certainly brings the sense of danger that it sets out to convey and more. It could easily fit into a sexy spy movie.

And just like that, after all the promises it ends abruptly, leaving you gasping for more. The only way I could think of to explain this song is like goth had a baby with R&B, that was raised in the church of EDM. Wow!

If this song is any indication of what to expect from this amazing artist going forward, I might just fall in love.
