3 Little Wolves are one of those bands where you don’t quite know what to expect from them, in the best way.
The Birmingham five-piece use their broad music influences to bring fresh and unique sounds to the scene and ‘Second Hand’ – out January 19 – is no exception. Starting with an ear-grabbing acoustic guitar progression and bass that blends beautifully with the melody, rendering a rather folky sound. But then – surprise!- they stir in funk, jazz and classic rock influences to cook up an all-around really fun song.
Singer Paul said “The rise and rise of social media has led to more disconnect between people in real life than there ever has been. ‘Second Hand’ is about that… a couple sitting together on a sofa, one is sitting there scrolling through social media for hours on end while the other is sitting there just being ignored. They are in the same room, but not in the same room really. So I guess it’s about feeling second best in a relationship due to the influence of technology.”
Well, been there done that… and who hasn’t? It’s an ugly side of technology and social media that’s rather sad if we really think about it. But now we can bop our heads to the rhythm and enjoy the story of how a screen shattered a relationship and hopefully, put our own phones away… for three minutes, at least.
